A's Interested In Reunion With Kurt Suzuki
6 years agoThe Oakland Athletics are interested in signing free-agent catcher Kurt Suzuki, as their primary catcher in 2018, Jonathan Lucroy, is also a free agent. The 35-year-old Suzuki debuted with Oakland in 2007 and spent five seasons with them until being traded to the Nationals in 2012. He was an All-Star in 2014 with Minnesota and again in 2017 with Atlanta when he hit .283 with a career-high 19 home runs. Suzuki hit 12 home runs and had 50 RBI in 105 games with the Braves in 2018. He hit .255 with 59 homers and 309 RBI in 718 games with the A's. Suzuki can hit a little and is solid on defense, but he's more of a two-catching league asset as a platoon type behind the dish.
