A's Hoping Sean Manaea Will Return At Midseason
6 years agoOakland Athletics president of baseball operations Billy Beane said the team is optimistic that starting pitcher Sean Manaea (shoulder) will be able to return next year around the All-Star break. The left-hander had left shoulder surgery in September, which was called a subacromial decompression of his labrum. Manaea had a career year in 2018, going 12-9 with a 3.59 ERA, 108 strikeouts, 32 walks and a 1.08 WHIP. He tossed a no-hitter on April 21 against the Red Sox, so Manaea certainly has upside moving forward, although he may not be an option for fantasy owners until well into the second half of the season. Beane said there haven't been any setbacks in Manaea's rehab so far.
