Oakland Athletics manager Bob Melvin said the team is holding out hope that starting pitcher Sean Manaea (shoulder) can return at some point in 2019. Manaea had surgery on Wednesday to fix an impingement and a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He was having a very solid year before his injury, going 12-9 with a 3.59 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 108 strikeouts in 160 2/3 innings over 27 starts. Shoulder injuries can be very tough to return from for pitchers, so there's no guarantee he'll be productive for fantasy owners even if he does return next year in the second half of the season.--Keith Hernandez
