Aroldis Chapman Traded To Rangers
1 year agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman has been traded to the Texas Rangers on Friday. In exchange, the Royals will receive left-handed pitcher Cole Ragans and minor-league outfielder Roni Cabrera. Chapman posted a 2.45 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 53 strikeouts, eight holds and two saves over 29 1/3 innings with the Royals this season. The 35-year-old does have closer experience, but he is expected to operate in a setup role with the Rangers. The Rangers are currently in first place in the American League West, and they want to keep it that way. This move gives them a stronger bullpen without hurting their farm system significantly. It's unlikely that Chapman has much fantasy value in Texas given the fact that William Smith has established himself as the closer.
