2 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman (Achilles) made his first rehab appearance at Double-A Somerset on Friday. He pitched a scoreless seventh inning in the outing, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out one. He topped out at 99 mph on the radar gun in the game. Chapman, who has been out since late May with an Achilles injury, is expected to spend at least a few more days on his rehab assignment. The hope is that he will be back with the Yankees by the end of the month. Prior to the injury, he had gone 9-for-9 in save opportunities while pitching to a 3.86 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP. Yankees manager Aaron Boone recently stated that he expects Chapman to return to closing duties upon his activation, despite how effective Clay Holmes has been in the ninth inning with Chapman out.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
