Aroldis Chapman Reaches Extension With Yankees
5 years agoThe New York Yankees and closer Aroldis Chapman agreed to a restructured deal on Saturday that will keep the left-hander with the team through the 2022 season, according to sources. The 31-year-old could have opted out of the final two years of his deal, but instead the Yanks will add another year for $18 million to the end of the next two years, which were due to pay him $30 million. Chapman leads baseball with his strikeout rate of 14.8 strikeouts per nine innings, and he remains one of the most dominant closers in the game on a strong team. That makes him a high-end fantasy closer.
