Aroldis Chapman Notches First Save Of July
3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman worked his first save situation since the start of July, locking down a 6-4 victory over the Phillies Tuesday. Chapman's spin rates were down once again, but the stuff played much better, as he was throwing harder and struck out three batters while inducing five whiffs. He did allow a home run, though fantasy managers will likely take the bad with the good at this point with the hard-throwing southpaw, who allowed one earned run through the first two months of the season before yielding 15 in 12 2/3 innings since the start of June. Chapman will likely remain the Yankee closer- given their salary commitment to him, though his 21.1 percent barrel rate and 16.2 percent walk rate are very concerning metrics for his fantasy value.
