Anthony Rizzo Out Friday

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (elbow) is not in the lineup on Friday as the team faces the St. Louis Cardinals. Rizzo finds himself on the bench to start the weekend series against the Cardinals after getting hit by a pitch on his elbow on Thursday against the Oakland Athletics. X-rays were negative for any fractures, though, so Rizzo is merely day-to-day and could return to the starting lineup on Saturday. DJ LeMahieu is getting the start at the cold corner on Friday and is hitting leadoff for the Yanks against Cardinals left-hander Matthew Liberatore. Rizzo will finish the month of June with a weak .173 average (13-for-75) with no home runs, four doubles, five RBI and 17 strikeouts in 90 plate appearances over 22 games, but he remains a solid source of power in a strong Yankees lineup.
