Anthony Mantha Continues To Gather Momentum With Two Goals
3 years agoWashington Capitals winger Anthony Mantha contributed two goals Thursday night against Columbus in a 7-2 win, scoring the first two goals of the game. He also led his team with five shots in 12:40 of ice time. Mantha got injured early in the season and made his way back into the lineup only at the start of this month. It's taken him some time to get into a rhythm, but the 27-year-old has impressed in recent outings. Mantha was scored in back-to-back games and is averaging a point per game across his last five appearances. The former Red Wing has managed six goals and 11 points for the whole campaign in 17 games.

Anthony Mantha Headed To Injured Reserve
5 months agoCalgary Flames winger Anthony Mantha (lower body) was placed on IR on Thursday after suffering a lower-body injury in the first period of Tuesday's game against the Montreal Canadiens. Mantha will be out for at least the next three games while on IR. It is unfortunate timing for the 30-year-old, who seemed to be finding his footing in Calgary with three points in three games before Tuesday's affair. If the injury isn't significant, the winger should be able to come close or beat the 44 points he put up last year with Vegas and Washington.

Anthony Mantha Suffers A Lower-Body Injury
5 months agoCalgary Flames right wing Anthony Mantha had his night cut short by a lower-body injury on Tuesday versus Montreal. Mantha was limited to 5:06 of ice time. The 30-year-old entered Tuesday's game with a three-game point streak. He has tallied four goals and seven points in 13 appearances while registering a team-high plus-six rating. Mantha has been an effective player for the Flames and will definitely be missed if he has to sit out additional time. Matt Coronato, who scored twice in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win, could land in a top-six role if Mantha is unavailable on Thursday versus Boston. Kevin Rooney would likely fill the gap in the lineup.

Flames Want Anthony Mantha To Shoot More This Season
6 months agoCalgary Flames right wing Anthony Mantha will be expected to fire off a lot more shots in 2024-25. "He's got a rocket of a shot," Flames head coach Ryan Huska said. "I asked him to shoot more…if he's gonna play with Huby (Jonathan Huberdeau). Huby's a pass-first guy, as we know. So, I want him to be ready to shoot. We feel like if he has the mindset of, 'I've got to get up to 300 shots,' which is a lot of shots, then he's gonna score some goals because he's naturally talented that way." Mantha's single-season record for shots on goal stands at 198, and he has averaged around 2.3 shots per game for his career. The 30-year-old has struggled in recent campaigns but could have a career year in Calgary if things work out as Huska envisions.

Anthony Mantha Will Leave Vegas In Free Agency
9 months agoVegas Golden Knights right wing Anthony Mantha will need to find himself a new home this offseason. The 29-year-old has told Catherine Savoie of RDS that the Golden Knights won't bring him back. Mantha was a deadline-day acquisition for Vegas, and he will be an unrestricted free agent following the end of a four-year, $22.8 million contract. After starting out in Washington, Mantha finished the 2023-24 campaign with 23 goals and 44 points in 74 games. He's had a topsy-turvy career in the NHL but should get plenty of interest on the open market. In 494 career games, Mantha has posted 296 points (142 goals, 154 assists).
