Anthony Bender Takes His First Loss On Sunday
3 years agoMiami Marlins rookie relief pitcher Anthony Bender took the first loss of his major league career in Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Bender threw an inning, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk without recording a strikeout. It took him 27 pitches (16 strikes) to get through the inning. Bender clearly didn't have it in this one, and it was a rare bad outing for the impressive rookie reliever. While he started his career looking almost unhittable, he's stumbled a little bit over these past few weeks. The loss evens his record at 1-1 and raises his ERA to 2.30.
