Angels' Medical Staff is 'Very Optimistic' on Shohei Ohtani's Prognosis

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani has gotten "very optimistic" reports from the medical staff regarding his prognosis. Ohtani received a PRP injection that will need two-to-three weeks to see if it holds; Ohtani will be re-evaluated at that time. As of right now, Ohtani is taking one-arm swings and Mike Scioscia said, "The swing is not impacting his ligament at all." The team does not know just yet if Ohtani will need Tommy John surgery on his elbow, but the team is exhausting all other options before they resort to that. It is possible Ohtani does not pitch again this season and only hits, but that information will come in time.
