4 years agoThe Los Angeles Angels are hiring former Atlanta Braves assistant general manager Perry Minasian as their new general manager on Thursday, according to a source. Minasian will replace Billy Eppler. He's spent the last three years working with Braves president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos. Minasian also spent nine years filling a variety of scouting roles with the Blue Jays. The other candidates the Angels considered were Mariners assistant GM Justin Hollander, Cubs senior vice president Jason McLeod and Diamondbacks assistant GMs Jared Porter and Amiel Sawdaye. The Angels have been to the playoffs just once since 2009 and are trying to get back with star outfielder Mike Trout approaching his age-29 season.
