Angels Being Flexible With Jaime Barria
4 years agoLos Angeles Angels right-hander Jaime Barria threw a simulated game on Wednesday instead of seeing action in a Cactus League game. The Angels are waiting to see if Barria will be given an extra year of minor league options because of the shortened season in 2020. If he is out of options, he'll make the team and will likely be a reliever. If he's given another year of options, he could be stretched out to start in the minors to give the team more starting rotation depth. The 24-year-old had a nice 3.62 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 27 strikeouts and nine walks in 32 1/3 innings over seven outings (five starts) for the Angels last year. But it sounds like he won't have a fantasy relevant role if he's pitching in the big leagues in 2021.
