Andrew Painter Throws Off Mound
4 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter (elbow) has progressed to throwing off the mound for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery in late July of 2023. It's big news for the No. 19 overall prospect, per MLB Pipeline. Despite his progress, the right-hander isn't expected to return to game action until 2025. Painter, 21, was arguably the best pitcher on the farm in 2022, where he worked to a 1.56 ERA with 155 strikeouts in 103 1/3 innings between Single-A and Double-A. The right-hander will need to shake off the rust during his recovery, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Painter in Philadelphia in 2025. He should already be rostered in dynasty leagues, and those in redraft leagues should monitor him for the 2025 campaign.
