Andrew Chafin Loses Monday's Game
1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks reliever Andrew Chafin came into Monday's contest against the St. Louis Cardinals in the ninth inning with a 6-5 lead. However, it turned into a disaster when he allowed five earned runs on three hits and two walks over 2/3 innings while striking out a pair. It was Chafin's fourth blown save and third loss of the season, and he's sporting a 4.24 ERA and 1.38 WHIP but is striking out batters at a 32.7% rate across 34 innings. The 33-year-old has been a ninth-inning option all year, recording eight saves, but the Diamondbacks have four arms with multiple saves. Chafin is likely better suited for save and hold leagues, considering his 11 holds so far.
