Andrelton Simmons Takes Grounders Again Monday
5 years agoLos Angeles Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons (ankle) took ground balls again on Monday and was making lateral movements and doing flips to second base, which represents progress over where he was a couple of days ago. Simmons has been out since May 20 after suffering a Grade 3 ankle sprain. He was hitting a nice .298/.323/.415 with three home runs, 21 RBI and five stolen bases in 195 plate appearances as one of the team's better offensive players before his injury, but he's unlikely to be back before next month. David Fletcher has mostly filled in at the 6 in his absence, and the super-utility man has become relevant in deep mixed leagues for his high batting average and contact skills.
