Alexis Diaz Takes The Loss Wednesday
2 years agoCincinnati Reds reliever Alexis Diaz came into Wednesday's 3-3 ball game in the bottom of the ninth against the Pittsburgh Pirates but gave up the winning run in the 10th and was tagged with the loss. He allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out two across 1.2 innings. Diaz, 26, is in his debut season as a big leaguer and has surprised many with his 1.76 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 81 strikeouts over 61.1 IP. The right-hander didn't begin the year as the closer, but as the year's gone on, he's earned more trust from David Bell and has 13 saves on the year. Diaz has become the number one option out of the pen with six saves since the start of August, and fantasy managers shouldn't fret about one poor outing.
