Alex Wood Throws Cautiously Despite Bad Ankle
7 years agoUpdating a previous report, Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Alex Wood (ankle) threw off the mound in Arizona on Friday, dispelling the severity of his ankle injury. Wood rolled his ankle during a running drill on Thursday and was sidelined briefly until further tests and X-rays, but he told SportsNet LA's Alanna Rizzo that he could have thrown a regular bullpen session on Friday and that the Dodgers are just being cautious. Wood had a breakout season in 2017 but hasn't thrown more than 153 innings since 2013. He fizzled down the stretch and makes an excellent sell-high candidate if he comes charging out of the gates in 2018.
