Alex Wood Hoping To Pitch Saturday
6 years agoCincinnati Reds starting pitcher Alex Wood, who has been sidelined with a tight back, is hoping to pitch on Saturday against the Padres. The 28-year-old left-hander should be fine for the start of the regular season with his new team. Wood went 9-7 with a 3.68 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 135 strikeouts in 151 2/3 innings (27 starts) for the Dodgers last year. Don't expect him to ever be as good as he was in 2017 (16 wins, 2.72 ERA, 1.06 WHIP), but he can be serviceable as a late-round mixed league pick. His new hitter-friendly home park won't do him many favors, though.
