Alex Verdugo Sitting On Monday
4 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Kansas City Royals and left-hander Danny Duffy. Verdugo is likely just getting a breather against the southpaw. He's hitting just .136 (3-for-22) with seven strikeouts in the last seven days and only .204 (19-for-93) with one home run against lefties in 2021. Marwin Gonzalez draws into left field and is hitting eighth against Duffy on Monday night. Third baseman Rafael Devers moves up to the second spot. Gonzalez, a switch-hitter, has been better from the right side of the plate against southpaws this season, but his overall slash line of .192/.271/.288 with two homers and 16 RBI in 222 plate appearances won't inspire much confidence in DFS gamers.
