Alex Verdugo Exits Early Sunday
1 year agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo left Sunday afternoon's game against the Kansas City Royals with an apparent injury. The 27-year-old was replaced by prospect Wilyer Abreu. Verdugo's early exit comes on the heels of a big night on Saturday in which he went 3-for-5 with a double, triple, and a run scored as part of his club's 9-5 road victory. It's been a solid season for the former Dodgers farmhand as Verdugo is hitting .280 with 13 home runs, four stolen bases, and a .795 OPS across 123 appearances and 534 trips to the plate. Early speculation suggests a leg cramp but Verdugo's status should become clear shortly after Boston's series finale in Kansas City.
