Alex Reyes, Jordan Hicks Unlikely For Rotation
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitchers Alex Reyes and Jordan Hicks seem to both be destined for bullpen roles, at least to start the year, according to a Tweet from Cardinals beat writer Jeff Jones. In his Tweet, Jones reported that Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol stated, "I do think getting Alex and Jordan stretched is going to be much more challenging than in a normal time." Neither Reyes nor Hicks started a game for the team last year. Hicks only appeared in a total of 10 games and struggled to the tune of a 5.40 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. Reyes, meanwhile, led the team in saves with 29, while pitching to a 3.24 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. Giovanny Gallegos is currently the frontrunner for saves in St. Louis this year, but both Reyes and Hicks could emerge as saves candidates as well.
