Alex Colome Takes Tough Loss Wednesday
4 years agoMinnesota Twins relief pitcher Alex Colome had a disastrous outing in Wednesday's tough 13-12 loss to Oakland. Colome came on in the ninth with a chance to lock down a save- but blew it after hitting a batter, allowing a single, and then surrendering a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 10. He got a second chance in the 10th inning with a two-run lead- and it initially looked promising, as he got two quick outs, though he promptly allowed back-to-back walks and was then done in by two errors on routine grounders. Colome now has three blown saves- and while manager Rocco Baldelli has gone back to him constantly this year, it wouldn't be surprising to see Taylor Rogers or Hansel Robles get a crack at the ninth when the next save chance arrives.
