7 years agoThe Baltimore Ravens and running back Alex Collins took care of the technicality of signing a contract on Tuesday. It was anti-climatic because Collins was an exclusive-rights free agent, which meant he couldn't negotiate with other teams. Once the Ravens offered him a contract tender offer, Collins was going to be returning to the team. Collins ended up being Baltimore's most effective back in 2017, rushing for 973 yards and six touchdowns on 212 carries. He also recorded 23 catches for 187 yards through the air. The 23-year-old should compete with Kenneth Dixon for the lead-back role in 2018, but he has a good opportunity to make a strong impact once again on a run-first team.--Jamie Mellor
