Alex Cobb's Blister Issues Resurface
6 years agoBaltimore Orioles starting pitcher Alex Cobb (finger) left his start early against the A's with a blister that opened up on his finger in the second inning on Tuesday. Manager Buck Showalter said Cobb will be day-to-day and said he expects the pitcher to make another start this season. The right-hander allowed a hit while walking one and striking out two in his two scoreless innings before leaving. He's been much better in the second half than in the first, but overall he's a disappointing 5-15 with a 4.90 ERA and weak 6.09 K/9 over 27 starts for the last-place Orioles. We wouldn't feel comfortable trusting Cobb for much if he makes any more starts in 2018 while managing his blister issues.
