Alex Cobb Agrees To Four-Year Deal With The Orioles
7 years agoUpdating an ongoing story, free-agent starting pitcher Alex Cobb and the Baltimore Orioles have agreed to a four-year deal in the neighborhood of $60 million. This was tweeted by Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports and was also quoted by Orioles writer Roch Kubatko. Of course, the question is: How fast Cobb will be able to ramp up to join the rotation with Opening Day so close? He'll probably spend extra time in Florida, but this will radically change the rotation in terms of the order. Andrew Cashner will probably be bumped to No. 5 and pitchers like Miguel Castro, Gabriel Ynoa and Nestor Cortes will get moved to the bullpen. Is Cobb worth a grab? He's still not at his top form after Tommy John surgery but at 12-10 with a 3.66 ERA in 2017, he was much better than any Orioles starter. He could be worth grabbing late or off waivers.
