Alex Bregman Scratched With Hand Soreness
6 months agoUpdating a previous report, Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (hand) has been scratched from Wednesday's series finale against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals with left-hand soreness after being hit by a pitch in Tuesday's victory. Mauricio Dubon will now take over at third base and will bat ninth against Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas. Bregman was able to play the entire game on Tuesday, and X-rays came back clean after the contest, so it shouldn't be an injury that keeps him out for long. With an off day coming on Thursday, the 30-year-old All-Star has a good chance of being able to return for Friday's series opener against the hosting Los Angeles Angels. It's bad timing for Bregman and his fantasy managers, as he's hitting .387 (12-for-31) with five home runs and eight RBI in eight games since May 28.
