Alex Bregman Lands On Injured List With Quad Strain
4 years agoThe Houston Astros placed third baseman Alex Bregman (quadriceps) on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a strained left quadriceps. Catcher Garrett Stubbs was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move. Bregman injured himself in the first inning of Wednesday's game against the Texas Rangers while running to first base and hobbled off the field. Manager Dusty Baker said there isn't a timetable for Bregman's return, so fantasy managers need to prepare for a potentially lengthy absence. The 27-year-old is hitting .275/.359/.428 with a 119 OPS+, seven home runs, 34 RBI, 37 runs scored and a steal in 59 games this season and must be stashed in all formats for however long he's out. Abraham Toro is starting at the hot corner on Thursday and is likely to see the majority of starts there with Bregman injured. The switch-hitting corner infielder has only a single in 12 at-bats this year, but the increased playing time alone will make him attractive in AL-only formats.
