1 year agoFlorida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (lower body) and defenseman Aaron Ekblad (lower body) are both expected to return to the lineup for Tuesday's pivotal game against the Boston Bruins. Barkov has missed the last three games due to a lower-body injury, while Ekblad has missed the past six games with a lower-body ailment. "Barkov is close," Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said before Sunday's win over the Philadelphia Flyers. "Ekblad is right on schedule. He was kind of middle of next week, that was the idea. Next week sometime is probably a more accurate way to put it." Barkov has recorded 18 goals and 66 points across 62 games on the season, adding 170 shots on goal and a plus-23 rating. Ekblad has tallied four goals and 17 points in 47 games, adding 78 hits and a plus-26 rating to his ledger.--Brenton Kemp

1 month agoFlorida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov found the back of the net twice during their victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday evening. Barkov did all of his damage in the second frame. He opened the period by scoring on a snap shot which broke the scoreless tie. Later in the frame, Barkov would find the back of the net again, this time on the power-play. This goal served as the eventual game-winner. This was a nice bounce-back outing for the 29-year-old as he did not get on the scoresheet in each of his past two games. Since the start of February, Barkov has scored four goals and added 10 helpers across 14 contests. He remains a must-start option in all formats and a strong play in DFS competitions on Thursday when the Panthers host the Columbus Blue Jackets.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

4 months agoFlorida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (illness) is a game-time decision for Wednesday's tilt against Minnesota. He was also a game-time call ahead of Monday's action versus Edmonton but ended up missing a second straight game. Barkov recently had a three-game goal streak and has been on fire for most of the season. Through 22 outings, the Panthers captain has produced nine goals and 29 points. Anton Lundell has enjoyed a larger role during Barkov's absence and looks set to maintain a top-six spot on Wednesday, as Sam Bennett (illness) won't be available.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

4 months agoFlorida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (illness) is considered a game-time decision for Monday's matchup against Edmonton. There's a chance Barkov will return to the lineup after missing the previous game due to illness, but we won't know for sure until closer to puck drop. The Panthers captain didn't take part in Monday's optional morning skate. Sam Bennett worked as the first-line center in Saturday's 3-0 loss to Calgary, with Anton Lundell moving to the second line. Both players will have additional fantasy value if Barkov remains out on Monday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

5 months agoFlorida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov collected four points in Friday's NHL Global Series games against Dallas in Finland, finishing a 6-4 victory with a goal and three assists. Playing in his hometown, Tampere, Barkov became the fourth player in league history to record four points in a regular-season game outside North America. Following a two-week absence with a lower-body injury, Barkov has needed no time to hit form, recording six points (two goals, four assists in two games. He's up to seven points (two goals, five assists) in four games for the campaign. The Panthers captain gets another chance to rock in front of Finnish fans on Saturday in a rematch with the Stars.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
