Alek Thomas Takes A Seat Against Twins
1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder Alek Thomas will retreat to the bench on Friday against the Minnesota Twins. Thomas is in a bit of a funk in his last five games, getting just one hit in 13 at-bats with six strikeouts, so he'll get a mental day of rest to begin a series in Minnesota. Tommy Pham, Corbin Carroll and Jake McCarthy will be Arizona's starting outfielders from left to right on Friday against Twins right-hander Bailey Ober. In his second major-league season with Arizona in 2023, Thomas is hitting .233/.268/.410 with seven home runs, 13 doubles, three triples, 20 RBI, five stolen bases and 31 runs scored in 75 games and 239 trips to the plate. The 23-year-old will continue to be a part-time player for the Snakes, especially with Pham now in town.
