Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah was rocked in his first Florida Complex League start against the Yankees on Tuesday afternoon. The struggling right-hander surrendered a whopping 11 earned runs in just 2 2/3 innings of work while yielding 10 hits, including two homers, and two walks in that time. It's obviously a disastrous return to the mound for the 25-year-old who pitched to a 6.36 ERA, 5.92 SIERA, and a minuscule 2.1% K-BB% across 13 starts for the Blue Jays this season. While Manoah pitched to a 2.24 ERA and was named an AL Cy Young finalist last season, he also sported a 3.85 SIERA that suggested he was not nearly as good as his surface ERA suggested. The Blue Jays will surely exercise patience with their young starter.--Brenton Kemp
