Aledmys Diaz Hitting Cleanup Monday
1 year agoOakland A's utility player Aledmys Diaz is hitting out of the cleanup spot Monday against Braves right-hander Michael Soroka, who happens to be making his season debut. It's a rare spot in the order for Diaz, as Monday marks just his second start of the season out of the four-hole while he is one of many struggling A's hitters this season. The veteran is hitting just .203 with one homer, four doubles, and a .521 OPS across 128 plate appearances on the season. Obviously, it's been a career-worst campaign for Diaz, as his 50 wRC+ pegs his bat 50% below the league average overall, while his .263 xwOBA ranks in the league's third percentile. He will man shortstop Monday night against the Braves.
