Alec Mills Pitches Well In Loss
3 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Alec Mills picked up a tough loss on Friday versus the Cincinnati Reds. Mills went 5 2/3 innings and allowed two hits, two runs, one walk and nine strikeouts. Mills was cruising for most of his outing and left with two runners on two out in the bottom of the sixth inning. Relief pitcher Adam Morgan then came in and served up a two-run double to Joey Votto to score both runs that would be charged to Mills. It was the best start of the season for Mills. Mills has been filling in for starting pitcher Trevor Williams (appendectomy) and has now made five starts on the season. Mills is expected to return to the bullpen when Williams returns, but that could change with starter Jake Arrieta continuing to struggle. Mills is now 3-2 with a 4.85 ERA.
