Alec Burleson's Huge Day Fuels Cardinals Blowout Win On Saturday
5 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Alec Burleson had a huge day at the plate on Saturday in the Cardinals' 11-3 win over the Chicago Cubs in the first game of their doubleheader. Burleson went three-for-four with a three-run homer and a double, tallying three RBI and two runs. Burleson increased his OPS to .807 on the season. The lefty is scorching in July and has a 1.032 OPS in 46 AB during the month. As the Cardinals look to hold onto their wild card spot and put pressure on the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central (4.5 GB) his production is very welcome for an offense that has, at times, been underwhelming. Burleson is back in the Cardinals lineup for Game Two of their doubleheader against Cubs starting pitcher Javier Assad.
