Albert Almora Jr. Sitting Out on Wednesday
7 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Albert Almora Jr. (rest) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Ian Happ will bat eighth and play center field against righty Heath Fillmyer. Almora has struggled heavily over the last week or so, but has been exceeding expectations throughout most of the season. Happ has been in a slump recently, but hits right-handed pitching fairly well. He could be an option in DFS contests.

D-backs Ink Kyle Garlick, Albert Almora Jr. To Minors Deals
1 year agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks have signed outfielders Kyle Garlick and Albert Almora to minor-league deals. Garlick, 32, has spent the last three seasons with the Minnesota Twins but his production took a major turn for the worse in the 2023 season. Known as a lefty-masher, the righty-swinging Garlick hit just .179 with a 36.7% K% across a small 30-plate-appearance sample size in the 2023 season. He did hover around league average in his previous two seasons, as per wRC+, and has generally hit left-handed pitching well in his career. Almora, 29, didn't appear in the big leagues in the 2023 season as he suffered a shoulder injury late in the 2022 season. He is a career .239 hitter with 33 home runs and seven stolen bases across 600 MLB contests.

Albert Almora Jr. Lands On Injured List Tuesday
3 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds placed outfielder Albert Almora Jr. on the injured list without a designation on Tuesday. The lack of a designation suggests that the move is COVID-related. Almora has been in and out of the starting lineup lately, primarily splitting time with Nick Senzel, who should benefit from Almora's absence. Almora has appeared in 48 games this year and he's slashed .234/.259/.371 with five home runs, 26 RBI and 18 runs.
