Albert Almora Jr. Faces Playing-Time Battle
6 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Albert Almora Jr. will face some difficulties in September when it comes to opportunities. Almora was already splitting time in centerfield with Ian Happ. Kyle Schwarber is just too powerful and good at getting on-base to not get significant playing time as long as the platoon matchup is not too brutal. Now with Bryant and Russell returned to the ballclub, the overflow from the infield will push guys like Bryant and Zobrist into the occasional stint in the outfield. Almora should retain enough playing time in September to retain value in fairly deep mixed leagues or NL-only formats but his value has definitely dropped from the time earlier in the summer when he briefly was leading the National League in batting average
