Aidan O'Connell Has Poor Showing In First Start
1 month agoLas Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell earned his first start after fellow QB Gardner Minshew II was benched, but he didn't make much of a difference for his team. The Raiders were blown out by the Pittsburgh Steelers 32-13 in Week 6. The second-year pro threw for 227 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, averaging just 5.7 yards per pass attempt. His touchdown pass didn't come until the fourth quarter when the score was 29-7, so AOC failed to make a difference when the game mattered. He had thrown an interception on the previous drive, resulting in a Steelers' touchdown on their next drive. O'Connell also failed to complete a pass on one drive, causing a turnover on downs. The 26-year-old will get another crack at starting against a softer defense when the Raiders take on the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7, but O'Connell is mainly an option in Superflex formats.
