Adrian Peterson Likely To Have Significant Role
6 years agoWashington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson looked sharp in preseason action last week and looks like a safe bet to have a big role in the team's backfield. "He looked better than the other Redskins' [first- and second-down] backs, and that's all that matters right now," said ESPN.com's John Keim. Keim thinks it's hard to imagine the team starting anyone else, which means Peterson could see 15 carries a game or more. The main question will be how long Peterson will hold up, but he had four games with 20-plus carries after he was traded from the Saints to the Cardinals in 2017. However, he's averaged just 3.1 yards per carry the last two years, which is the third lowest total among running backs with at least 150 carries. Because he'll likely see more work than Rob Kelley, at least to begin the season, Peterson is on the RB3/flex radar.
