Addison Russell Not Expected To Be Available Friday
6 years agoChicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell is not expected to report to the ballpark on Friday after domestic-abuse allegations made by his ex-wife have resurfaced. It's unclear if Major League Baseball will re-open the investigation or if Russell will be potentially suspended when all is said and done, but it's not a good look for a player that has had a tough year on top of it. After hitting a career-high 21 home runs in 2016, Russell has declined, hitting 12 last year and only five this season in 130 games. He's been dealing with various injuries all year, too. There's a chance he might not play much down the stretch, and he could be facing a suspension to open the 2019 season.
