Addison Russell Appears Likely To Face Suspension
6 years agoMajor League Baseball has additional credible information about a domestic-violence case involving Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell and his ex-wife, Melisa Reidy, according to sources familiar with the investigation. As a result, Russell has been placed on administrative leave and appears likely to face a suspension from the league. Russell and his agent, Scott Boras, will not exercise their right to challenge baseball's decision through an emergency hearing. Not only is Russell having a terrible season (.250 average, five homers, 38 RBI), but now he has a potential suspension looming over his head for 2019. It's highly unlikely we see Russell again this year or in the postseason.
