Adam Wainwright's Injury Not Serious
5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals executive John Mozeliak said that starting pitcher Adam Wainwright (hamstring) is dealing with a mild hamstring strain and will be re-evaluated in a week. Wainwright was placed on the injured list on Monday, but it sounds as though he might only need to miss two starts at the most. Daniel Poncedeleon is likely to fill the void this Friday at the Mets and will be an acceptable deep league streamer. Wainwright, on the other hand, has a 4.46 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 61 strikeouts in 70 2/3 innings (13 starts) on the year. He doesn't miss nearly as many bats these days and also lacks pinpoint control, so he's more of a risky streamer in deeper leagues when he's healthy.
