Adam Wainwright To Make Another Rehab Start Saturday
6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright (elbow) will make another start for Triple-A Memphis on Saturday and will be pushed to around 75 pitches in the outing. Wainwright recently tossed four scoreless innings with Memphis on Monday, running his scoreless innings streak to 12 over five outings with three minor league affiliates. The Cardinals won't necessarily bring Wainwright back as a starter, but they are stretching him out just in case. His velocity has been in the 89-92 mph range and his curveball has some bite to it, which is a great sign. The veteran was 1-3 with a 4.00 ERA in four starts for the team before landing on the disabled list in May. There's no telling how effective he'll be upon his return or whether he'll be in the rotation, so fantasy owners should take a wait-and-see approach.
