Adam Ottavino Closes Out Rocky Save
6 years agoColorado Rockies setup man Adam Ottavino got the chance to finish a game on Friday due to closer Wade Davis' illness, and he got the job done, although he had to navigate some rough waters. Ottavino shot himself in the foot to start the inning by making a poor throw that allowed the leadoff man to reach base. A single, stolen base, and sac fly later, and Ottavino was looking at the tying run on third with contact specialist Jon Jay at the plate. Fortunately, Ottavino was able to freeze Jay with the third strike and escape with the save. Davis' health will determine if Ottavino gets another opportunity over the next couple days, but otherwise, Ottavino still looks a bit shaky compared to how dominant he was at the start of the season. Colorado's bullpen woes may not be over yet.
