Adalberto Mondesi Provides Tantalizing Spring
6 years agoKansas City Royals shortstop/second baseman Adalberto Mondesi gave fantasy owners a taste of his sky-high potential last season, but his spring training is making even more people drool. His basic counting stats weren't phenomenal with just two home runs and four stolen bases over the course of 48 at-bats, but his underlying numbers are the fun ones. This spring, he walked five times in 53 plate appearances. Last season, he only had 11 walks in 291 plate appearances. Last year, he struck out 26.5% of the time. This spring, just 17%. Mondesi brings that power/speed combo to the table that makes fantasy owners fawn all over themselves. If he can add patience and more contact to the equation, he could end up being a top-20 player this season.
