Aaron Jones A Borderline RB2 Against The 49ers
2 months agoMinnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones made a great debut for his new team against the New York Giants in Week 1, accounting for 109 yards of offense and a rushing touchdown. He will look to build on his Week 1 performance in Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers. The Vikings struggled to run the ball in 2023. They rewarded the efficiency of the former Green Bay Packers running back with 14 rush attempts, something last year's starting running back for Minnesota, Alexander Mattison, only did six times the whole season. For the Vikings to make it a game against the 49ers, they will need to attempt explosive plays and control the line of scrimmage, especially with second-year wide receiver Jordan Addison (ankle) being ruled out. Expect Jones to eclipse the 14-attempt threshold again in Week 2, possibly with a more significant role in the receiving game, with the running back to have a fairly safe RB2 floor and RB1 upside with touchdown luck.
