Aaron Hicks Receives Cortisone Shot
6 years agoNew York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks (back), who hasn't played since March 1, required a cortisone injection in his lower back on Monday, but he's "not really" concerned that the pain would delay his availability for Opening Day. Hicks continues to experience restrictions with his mobility, mainly while hitting and throwing. Manager Aaron Boone said Hicks isn't expected to play before the weekend, but it sounds like the Yankees are just being extra cautious with their starting center fielder. If Hicks isn't ready for Opening Day, Brett Gardner could shift to center field with Giancarlo Stanton in left. The 29-year-old Hicks is often slowed by injuries, but the risk is worth the reward in this potent lineup.
