49ers Open To Trading Their First-Round Picks
5 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers have fielded calls on both of their first-round picks (No. 13 and 31 overall) and are open to trading either or both picks, according to league sources. After pick No. 31, the Niners aren't scheduled to pick again until No. 156 in the fifth round, so general manager John Lynch would surely like to trade back and gain additional picks to shorten that gap in the middle rounds. NBC Sports' Peter Kings guessed in his mock draft this week that the Patriots would trade up to pick No. 13 to select Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa if he were to fall out of the top 10. It would be a bold move, but it's a thought. Receiver-needy teams could also trade into the top 15 to take one of this year's top receiving prospects -- Ceedee Lamb, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III.
