49ers Haven't Had Contract Talks With Emmanuel Sanders
5 years agoSan Francisco 49ers impending free-agent wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders said that he hasn't engaged the team in contract talks, which suggests that the Niners will let him test the open market next week. Sanders had two big games with San Fran after he was acquired from the Broncos last year, but he tailed off down the stretch and made little impact in the postseason. The 32-year-old (33 next week) finished 2019 with 36 catches for 502 yards and three touchdowns in his 10 regular season games with the 49ers. Trent Taylor, Jalen Hurd and Dante Pettis will all be looking to grab playing time next year, so it would make sense for the 49ers to move on from Sanders. He could still put up some numbers in the right situation, but his days of being a strong WR2/3 for fantasy owners are probably over.
