5 years agoSan Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch said on "The Rich Eisen Show" on Tuesday that the team briefly considered quarterback Tom Brady in free agency. "But within a day or two, Kyle and I looked at each other and said, 'You know what, we really like what we have in Jimmy.' We love everything that he brings and we really believe it's a long-term answer. I would tell you we're more convinced than ever about who our quarterback is in Jimmy Garoppolo," Lynch said. Garoppolo started every game in 2019 for the first time in his career and led the team to a Super Bowl appearance. He threw for 3,978 yards (fourth most in a season in team history) and completed 69.1 percent of his passes in the regular season. Despite the good numbers, many remain skeptical that Jimmy G is an elite signal-caller, as he's struggled in big moments and under pressure.
