We are down to the regular season's final month, and it's time to refine our rosters for a playoff push. Every roster decision matters at this point.
Roster spots and playing time are changing league-wide every day. Fantasy managers better be ready to stay on their feet as the summer winds down and adapt to evolving situations. This article will highlight the guys deserving more attention this week, including some noteworthy rookie surges.

Outfield Waiver Wire Adds - Standard Leagues
Starling Marte, New York Mets (49% Rostered)
Starling Marte isn't the most exciting name at this stage of his career, but he remains one of the more reliable options widely available on the waiver wire. The 35-year-old is slashing a respectable .274/.320/.405 with seven home runs and 14 stolen bases over 74 games played in 2024.
While Marte's surface numbers look good, the advanced stats suggest he is striking the ball better than he has in years. His impressive batted-ball metrics include a .294 xBA, .444 xSLG, 45% hard-hit rate, and a 90.1 MPH average exit velocity. Between a functional hitting approach and worthwhile speed, Marte can satisfy numerous offensive categories.
Pete Crow-Armstrong, Chicago Cubs (45% Rostered)
Pete Crow-Armstrong ranks among the fastest risers in fantasy baseball over the past week. The 22-year-old's career started off slow this season, but he has hit his stride at the plate recently. Crow-Armstrong's success includes a .325/.391/.578 slash line for the month of August with four home runs, six stolen bases, and a 165 wRC+.

Crow-Armstrong entered the 2024 campaign as the top prospect in the Chicago Cubs organization and ranked among the best prospects in all of baseball. Across 107 games between Double-A and Triple-A last season, he produced a .876 OPS with 20 home runs and 37 stolen bases. This current hot streak is only the beginning for Crow-Armstrong.
Dylan Crews, Washington Nationals (42% Rostered)
Dylan Crews' roster percentage has nearly doubled since his debut last week, and the window is closing quickly on him. His major league career is only four games deep, though the 2023 second-overall pick has made an instant impression. Crews has already generated four extra-base hits, including two home runs and a 213 wRC+.
Crews is the top-ranked prospect in the Washington Nationals farm system and the No. 3 prospect in all of baseball, per MLB Pipeline. The 22-year-old possesses the tools to excel in every offensive category, featuring a 60-grade hit tool alongside 60-grade power and 60-grade running ability. Expect Crews to make an immediate impact.
Matt Wallner, Minnesota Twins (32% Rostered)
Matt Wallner has demonstrated the type of upside that can win you a fantasy championship. Though the sample size is only a modest 52 games in total, he has generated a surprising .997 OPS this season with 10 home runs and a 180 wRC+.

Wallner's downside is apparent with an egregious 40.2% whiff rate and 36.4% strikeout rate. Still, the results are staggering when the 26-year-old does manage to make contact. Wallner's impressive batted-ball metrics include a .541 xSLG, 25% barrel rate, 56.3% hard-hit rate, and a 94 MPH average exit velocity.
Outfield Waiver Wire Adds - Deeper Leagues
Addison Barger, Toronto Blue Jays (3% Rostered)
The Toronto Blue Jays have been experimenting with many different lineup arrangements lately, and Addison Barger has been one of the surprising constants to emerge. His overall stats aren't much to get excited about, but Barger has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games and has been elevated to an everyday role in the middle of the Toronto lineup.
Barger doesn't have the same prospect pedigree as names like Pete Crow-Armstrong or Dylan Crews, but he has been a steady riser for the past couple of years. Injury interrupted his development last year, but Barger's upside is apparent in his impressive 55-grade power stroke, smashing 26 home runs over his last full minor league campaign in 2022.
Trevor Larnach, Minnesota Twins (3% Rostered)
Trevor Larnach has been an under-the-radar producer all season. The 27-year-old sports a respectable .256/.326/.450 slash line with 14 home runs and a 120 wRC+ this season. Larnach has been limited by a strong-side platoon for most of the season, but he is closer to being an everyday player with Byron Buxton remaining on the injured list.
Larnach's surface numbers aren't attention-grabbing, but the advanced statistics suggest an imminent upside. His outstanding batted-ball numbers include a .494 xSLG, 92.2 MPH average exit velocity, 10% barrel rate, and a 44.8% hard-hit rate. Larnach is exactly the type of hidden gem you're looking for down here.
Kyle Stowers, Miami Marlins (1% Rostered)
Kyle Stowers' major league results have been far from impressive. Still, he is getting consistent reps for the first time in his career, and his production is finally showing signs of a breakthrough. Stowers has hit safely in five consecutive games this week, including three multi-hit performances and five extra-base hits.
Stowers was lost in the mix of a deep Baltimore Orioles farm system, but we should not forget the upside he demonstrated during his development. Stowers features 60-grade power, producing a .555 slugging percentage across 58 games in the minor leagues this season, following a .566 slugging percentage in 2023 and a .527 mark in 2022.
